Many of you, Linux users, have Windows installed on your PCs for only one reason: it’s a game or a program, written only for the Redmond’s system. In the last few years true alternatives have appeared: Cedega and CrossOverOffice. Cedega is the WinAPI’s overlay, based on the open source Wine. It lets you play games designed for Microsoft systems.
In version 6 support for the following technologies has been added: DirectX 9a, Pixel Shaders 1.4, Vertex Shaders 1.1.

Finding information about how to develop and publish games for Linux
is difficult. There aren’t many articles or tutorials written about it,
and there is no centralized web site you can go to find all the
answers. It took me a long time to find all the information I needed to
finish the Linux version of Dirk Dashing: Secret Agent and publish it.
So I’ve decided to write a series of articles to capture everything I
have learned. I hope these articles will be useful to other developers
who want to port their games to Linux.
